A couple from Gunma Prefecture's town of Oizumi had been arrested by the Chiba Perfecture Police on suspicion of selling pirated One Piece anime DVDs on the internet.
The 47-year-old unemployed man Takuyuki Machida and his 48-year-old wife Mal-suk admitted to the allegations.
The two allegedly sold 38 copied DVDs, which they had acquired from a Korean website and then resold them to three men on the Internet for about 10,000 yen (about US$120), between last July and this past March. The authorities further allege that since 2006, Machida has already earned about 16 million yen (US$200,000) from sales.
Just last March, a college student was arrested for selling pirated DVD copies of Mobile Suit Gundam: The 08th MS Team, among others, via BBS sites. And last month, a Korean man was arrested for selling Dragon Ball pirated DVDs online.
