With the latest issue of Famitsu magazine had been released, gameplay details for the upcoming strategy role-playing game “Project × Zone” for the Nintendo 3DS. It's a collaboration between Namco Bandai, Capcom and Sega.
Project × Zone will be using the same gameplay as the “Tales” series, the Linear Motion Battle System. Here are the details about the game's battle system:
- Support Attacks call on a nearby party member (around 8 spaces away) to perform a tag-in strike.
- Cross Hit takes place during a Support Attack--if your main character and your support character attack at the same time, it triggers Cross Hit, freezing the enemy and letting you follow up with combos.
- Critical Hits occur after an opponent has been knocked into the air--timing an attack so it hits the opponent just before it lands results in a Critical Hit.
Each character will start out with three skills, and could gain up to five skills. The "XP" bar in screenshots is the Cross Point Gauge, which goes up as you fight.
Performing Cross Hits can push the gauge up to 150%, which you can then expend to perform a special attack. Battles will be fully voiced with cutscenes on special attacks.
Furthermore, new characters have been revealed! They are Chun-li (Street Fighter), Morrigan Aensland (Darkstalkers), Nanbu Kaguya and Haken (Mugen Frontier Super Robot Wars), Bruno (Dynamite Deka), Erica and Gemini (Sakura Wars), and Valkyrie (Valkyrie no Bouken).
“Project × Zone” is slated to be released later this 2012. Price: TBA.
