AKB48's “Eien Pressure” Sold 1 Million Copies, Tops Oricon Weekly Charts!

Another awesome first week for AKB48! The idol group's 29th single,“Eien Pressure” (永遠プレッシャー, Eternal Pressure), manages to sell 1,073,000 copies on its first week, topping the Oricon Weekly Charts for the week of December 17th.

“Eien Pressure” will be AKB48's 10th consecutive single (and 11 singles in total) to sell over a million copies. The idol group has now become the first female artist to sell a million copies for 10 consecutive singles! Furthermore, the girls also broken their previous records for the “number of consecutive chart-topping singles” as well as the “total number of chart-topping singles” for a female group.

Haruka Shimazaki, who served as the single's "center", commented, “To be honest, I have felt uneasy and "pressured" that ‘what if the record stops with the song I served as the center’, but I feel relieved now. I am truly happy.”
