Live Action “Rurouni Kenshin” Philippine Screening Earns $300K in its 1st Week!

Japan reporter for Screen International, Jason Gray tweeted that “Rurouni Kenshin”, or better known as “Samurai X” locally, had already earned at least US$100,000 in just 3 days during its Philippine screening.
Meanwhile, BoxOfficeMojo.com reports that for Rurouni Kenshin already grossed an estimated amount of US$314,303 in 50 screens (SM Cinemas only), as of December 9th, ranking 2nd in the Philippine Box Office! It is now considered as the highest ever box office opening for a Japanese film in the Philippines.

The Rurouni Kenshin live action film debuted at the top of Japan Box Office when it premiered in Japan on August 25th. It also has been seen in theaters more than 2 million times, earning over $36.7 million in Japan, $25 million internationally!
